When we were building DoubleLoop, we learned how powerful metric trees can be for solving that problem. And in Mixpanel, they become much more actionable when attached to live data.
But we also learned something else: Building a good metric tree from scratch is hard. Every product and company has a unique context—yet there are also clear patterns, common growth models, and best practices that repeat across industries.
That mix of uniqueness plus repeatable structure is exactly the kind of space where AI is a great thought partner.
Now that we’ve been building this inside Mixpanel—on top of the Context Graph, which gives AI a real understanding of your product’s behaviors and user journeys—we can finally tackle this at a different level. Instead of starting from a blank canvas, teams will be able to generate a first-draft metric tree that’s customized to their situation and informed by broader product patterns AI has seen before.
