Introducing Saved Metrics: Drive alignment and trust in your data

When teams don’t agree on a metric, it becomes hard to align, build trust, or move quickly.
You end up with multiple versions of the same chart. People recreate the same metrics over and over. Stakeholders question whether they’re looking at the “right” data. And decisions get delayed because of the inconsistencies.
Mixpanel’s Saved Metrics solves that. Now, you can define, save, share, and reuse key metrics across reports, dashboards, and teams, so everyone’s working from the same source of truth.
It’s a simple but powerful way to bring trust and efficiency to the product development lifecycle and how teams observe, analyze, decide, and act.
What are Saved Metrics?
Saved Metrics allow you to define key metrics (e.g., “Monthly Active Users,” “New Sign-Up”, or “Subscription Revenue”) once, and use them everywhere. They’re reusable and embedded across your Mixpanel experience that helps your team stay on the same page and trust the data.
In other words: you’re no longer second guessing metrics nor reinventing the wheel every time you open a new report.

Why teams rely on Saved Metrics
Saved Metrics help teams move faster through the full product decision-making loop:
- Observe what’s happening: Start with metrics that are already defined, validated, and shared across teams.
- Analyze confidently: No second-guessing definitions or re-creating behaviors or formulas. It’s less time to insight.
- Decide together: Everyone is working off the same logic, which keeps teams aligned and focused on the same goals.
- Act faster: When metrics are clear and trusted, it’s easier to ship, measure, and innovate, without slowing down for rework or confusion.
How it works
The new Mixpanel experience makes it easy to create and manage your metrics.
1. Create and save a metric
From any Mixpanel report, define a key metric—like “Checkout Completion” or “Activated Users,” and click Save Metric. Once saved, the metric is available for reuse across your project.

2. Reuse metrics across reports
Saved Metrics can be added to any report with just a few clicks. There’s no rebuilding or duplicating logic.
3. Update metrics as your business evolves
Need to refine a definition? You can:
- Push Changes: Apply your changes to all reports using that metric.
- Save as New: Creates a separate version if you want to preserve the original.
4. Manage and verify in Lexicon
You can view and manage all your Saved Metrics in one place, all within the “Metrics” tab in Lexicon.

Who benefits from Saved Metrics?
Saved Metrics is designed to address the specific needs of various roles within an organization:
- Data governors benefit by ensuring data integrity and consistency. This allows for standardized definitions and shared KPIs, which enforces uniform reporting and eliminates conflicting numbers across teams.
- Individual team members benefit by gaining confidence in their analysis and accelerating work. You no longer need to second-guess definitions or rebuild metrics, making work faster, easier, and more reliable.
- Leadership executives benefit from organizational alignment and a consistent view of performance. This gives you the assurance that all teams are working from the same trusted data, allowing you to easily focus on high-level KPIs and strategic decisions.
