REDDIT — R/UXRESEARCH
We tried Pendo, and frankly, it’s a mess. Sure, it looks fancy, but it’s just a band-aid. Instead of making our product easy to use from the start, we’re relying on these annoying guides that just slow everyone down. And those “insights” they give us? Completely pointless.

Why product teams are leaving Pendo

The reporting hits a ceiling

G2 REVIEW — PENDO
I find Pendo’s analytics and reporting capabilities very lacking. It is frustrating that it often boils down to just a few standard reports, which are clunky and inflexible to set up. I don’t feel like I’m generating any deep insights with Pendo—the analytics seem overly shallow, no comparison to best-in-class tools.

The pricing structure punishes scale

G2 REVIEW — PENDO
Pendo is not a great solution for a company (e.g. like a Series A) that is rapidly evolving and requires flexibility. Their pricing/licensing model is inflexible and old school. When my company wanted to transition off Pendo and asked for 1–2 months extra time to facilitate, I was told that they only do 1 year contracts.

Guides still require engineering

G2 REVIEW — PENDO
While certain capabilities/functionality may be there, the presentation/interface is old (think Salesforce, even Lightning). Pendo is not simple to set up and configure; dedicated resources are needed to setup/manage.

Mixpanel is powerful enough to handle the volume of our data, but flexible and intuitive enough for non-technical teams to use.

Jorge Martínez
Product Analytics Lead, Spin

We chose Mixpanel because it provides the purest form of analytics—clear, event-based insights without unnecessary complexity. It allows our teams to track exactly what matters, build funnels and retention cohorts with precision, and make decisions based on real user behavior in real time.

The biggest shift we’ve seen with MCP is speed and accessibility. What used to require hours of investigation from a specialized engineer can now be done in minutes by anyone on the team.

Randi Waranugraha
VP of Engineering, DANA

Mixpanel has been a game-changer for us. We can now visualize the entire customer journey and pinpoint exactly where we can make improvements. This has allowed us to be much more data-driven in our product development and marketing efforts.

G2 REVIEW — AMPLITUDE
Once we have our event tracking in place, Funnels, Retention, Journeys, Cohorts, and Insights answer a lot of the questions that used to turn into long meetings.

G2 REVIEW — AMPLITUDE
I like that you can attach components to specific areas of the UI and target components. I also like that you can segment who sees it, and attach them to Amplitude events so an event triggers the guide or survey appearing.

G2 REVIEW — HEAP
Heap’s automatic event tracking is its strongest feature. Some advanced reports can feel complex at first, and there is a learning curve when working with more detailed analyses.

G2 REVIEW — HEAP
I like that the UI is very simple and easy to use. The way we set up Heap with auto capture results in a lot of overhead to sift through many events. I would prefer if we had a specific plan of what we want to capture instead of everything.

G2 REVIEW — FULLSTORY
Session replays are the single biggest differentiator. Ability to share specific moments with stakeholders is a plus. Given the volume of events, it can be difficult to organize/navigate at times.

G2 REVIEW — FULLSTORY
The UI/UX is fairly intuitive. You have some pre-made reports and some more flexible dashboarding features. If you’re coming from a GA4 background, this should naturally make a lot of sense. The app implementation has been a bit difficult. The heatmaps on the app only allow you to see the user’s screen where it is captured—you can’t scroll up and down like you can on the web implementation.

WalkMe customer reviews

G2 REVIEW — WALKME
It makes process / doing tasks much easier to follow with WalkMe built on top of a platform. It can be guidance for onboarding or a simple smart tip that provides helpful information on the go.

G2 REVIEW — WALKME
The biggest benefit is how quickly we can build and deploy in-app guidance without changing the underlying software. The setup can take time to get right, especially mapping workflows; it can also feel a bit heavy on page performance if too many prompts are running.
